About Me
I was first licensed in 1969 as WN5BOL. My first rig was the Heathkit HW-16, crystal controlled. I earned my Extra class license in 1992 the old fashion way and received the callsign of AA5BC, I changed to my current call sign of K5QO in 2002 through the Vanity Call program. My Elmers were Keith (K5YCM) and Bill (WA5RNG).
My favorite modes of operation are CW, PSK31 and other Digital modes, I enjoy working 40 meters and the WARC bands especially 30 meters, I also enjoy operating QRP.
QRO Equipment
HF Rigs include an Icom 718 with LDG Z100 Plus tuner, Icom 730, and a Yaesu FT-77 and matching FC-700 Tuner.
QRP Equipment
QRP rigs include a Yaesu FT-817, Elecraft K1, Icom IC-703, SWL-30 and A SWL-40.
VHF Equipment
Yaesu FT-7800 dual band, a Yaesu FT-1802 , and Midland LMR's on 2, 440, 6 & 10 meters.
Antennas
HF Antennas include Cushcraft A-3 at 55 ft, G5RV, Hygain WARC Vertical and Hygain 12AVQ Vertical.
VHF Antennas include a Cushcraft AR-6 vertical antenna, a Cushcraft 2meter/440 3 element beam at 55 ft and a Cushcraft AR2 Ringo antenna at 30 feet.
