The 99 Cent Paddle
This was inspired by Doug Hendricks, KI6DS. Several years ago at Ozarkcon he gave out a small free kit for a "paper clip paddle" that consisted of large paper clips, a gatorade lid, some hardware and a cable.
But I didn't like the idea of having to hold it down with one hand while operating with the other. So, I found a suitable tin to replace the small plastic lid, this one has a plastic top eliminating the need for insulating the connections. I put rubber feet on the bottom of it. For ballast, I filled it with 99 pennies. Since everything else was free, the only cost is in the ballast. It really works!
